From the Estate Shop or the Terrace at the Country Club, follow the signs for the Parkland through the Walled Garden to the gate in the wall. Once through the gate, follow the path to the left until the path ends with the Deer Park in front of you and a bench on your right. Turn right here and the lectern will be in front of you. From Swinton Park, turn right out of the Turret and walk up the hill with the aviary on your right, head along the yew avenue until you get to the hand gate, and the lectern will be in front of you. Walk up the slope with the Deer Park on your left, you will normally see the deer grazing nearby. You will reach a fork in the path and from here you fork right so that Coffin Pond is on your left. There is a Bird Hide on your right you are welcome to visit. Look out for the Anglo Saxon coffins under the trees on your right and the old boathouse. Follow the path over the bridge and up the hill to reach the next fork. From here continue on the path towards Top Lake, ignoring the left hand fork. The path will bring you to the shore of the lake and the information lectern. With the lake on your left, go past the turning for the Dales View route, keeping the lake on your left. You will then go past some interesting follies at which are Druid’s seats and arches. After these, turn right (if you go over a bridge you have gone too far) and follow the signs to Quarry Gill. Go past the parkland gates and continue with the stream on your left. Turn left where the path crosses the stream at the top of the waterfall – please use the stepping stones and take care. From this point the path winds down through the trees and you will start to see the ravine on your left and Quarry Gill bridge beyond it. Once you reach the bridge you will see the waterfall on your right, and beyond that the old quarry (which gives the Gill its name). Continue with the quarry on your right and follow the path which will take you out of the Gill (look out for the view on your left over the bridge beneath you) and turns right up some steep steps. Take extreme care at this part of the walk and stay on the path as you are walking above the quarry and there is a steep drop to your right. Follow the path and the signs towards Top Lake, as you start to retrace your steps. When the path meets Top Lake, turn left and the path will take you back to Coffin Pond and the start of your walk.
