Swinton Moorland (15 miles)

This is a 15 mile circular walk on the Swinton Estate that starts and ends at Swinton Bivouac. It drops down to the River Burn before heading up to the hilltop hamlet of Ilton and then out across the moors. From there it drops down to Leighton Reservoir, across Grimesgill and then down to Colsterdale before switching back to climb up to Swinton Bivouac. There is a delightful Bothy on the top of the moors which is the perfect stop-off mid hike. Sit and admire the views with your lunch throughout the summer, or get warm by the fire in winter months.
